NEWS!
August 31th, 2010;
wow. i know what you're thinking, two news updates? within a two week span? who am i and what have i done with the real mr. p? well something about today's issue made me want to talk to my readers more. about... love. no, not really, but i tell you, when i originally brought karen into the story, i never expected that one year later she would be living with bowl-cut. contrary to popular belief, i do have a loose story arc written down on a calendar with all sorts of big moments in the upcoming world of mister p. about a year and a half's worth... i know... you wish you could see, but i never seem to stick to it. karen and eugene are a perfect example of that. the person eugene is based off of has been single for quite some time.
this leads me to answer a question that people ask me all the time...
Q:are the characters in this comic real people?
A: yup... although real-life tim is made up of three different people, one of which is married, all of whom have blue eyes. eugene is quite real, although based off of two people both people are startlingly similar. i am, of course, very real, and my life and this comic are painfully similar at times. and you'd be amazed at whats made up and what isn't... its not the stuff you'd think... trust me...*sigh*
so i think that's a pretty rad update. i am not talking about the ladies of my comic... i'll save that insight for another post... a much longer post. happy one year anniversary to eugene and karen.

August 26th, 2010;
ooooh... i have NOT done well at updating the news...again... frankly very little has happened over here at mlwcomics. i am currently working on a new mini-series comic that will run infrequently along with walking hawking and robo-tyson, it will be awesome. i have also been spending way too much time reading dave pemberton's joey cheats death. i will be doing a guest strip for them in late sept. as well as launching a new site for mlwcomics. i should have a beta by friday (i am told) but will believe it when i see it. my current work schedule has me out the door at about 3:30am everyday and falling asleep on buses on the way home. i would apologize if this affected the quality of the comic, but that would imply there is quality to begin with... which is silly. stay tuned...

July 7th, 2010;
GOOD NEWS! I have green-lit the production of a new website from some really creative folks over @ doejo.com and its only costing me my first born. what this means for you the reader? a cleaner, more organized site, with share links to reddit and digg and facebook, advanced viewing capabilities, like an infinite canvas, or no more scroll bars on the incorrectly formatted old comics. New hosting, slight layout and flow changes and soon a brand new character bio section with some really in depth stuff. all in all it could take a few months, but when it happens, trust me, you'll know.
due to the July fourth week, and my 200th issue happening i have caved into the demand from fans to sit down and put out some more of americas greatest heroes from a parallel universe 'walking hawking & robo-tyson.' enjoy it, and i will try to keep people posted on website progress (although screenshots will be reserved for the facebook fanpage)
-Mr. P.
June 8th, 2010;
alright, time for my monthly apology for not updating my news page... but this time, i'll make it up to you. i'm sure all three of my readers awoke this morning in distress that there was no comic... not even a cheeseburger. to alay your fears, no. i'm not dead, but the tuesday thursday update schedule has been eliminated... in favor of a MONDAY WEDNESDAY FRIDAY one! that's right fans... THREE updates a week... meaning 50% more mr. p and friends coming throught your internet-holes. the first update will be tomorrow, wednesday the 9th and will continue indefinitely. i dont know if i can keep it up, but it is time to try. the tuesday thursday run has been great, but it's time to go big... or go home.
-Mr. P.
May 11th, 2010;
wow two updates in a month?! i know, impressive. so things are going on in the world around me it seems, neighbors moving out, leaving my job in children's retail on the 22nd in pursuit of greener pastures (green like money). in other p-family news, my cousins 'dan and jordan' just won a million dollars by finishing first int season sixteen of the amazing race! impressive finish indeed. im still debating a full site rework but i doubt i will have time to mess with it until june. i have renewed my lease, so i will call chicago home for another year it seems. tahts about all i have for you. keep reading!
-Mr. P.
May 5th, 2010;
I am starting to wonder if i am incapable of updating this news page. anyway, news, hrm... went to c2e2 and hung out with some people. shook some hands, drank some booze. i will have a table next year, so plan for it. i am currently working 7 days a weeks at two different jobs mornings and nights and it is taking a toll on my immune system. couple that with the fact that i refuse to let work impede my drinking/social life and you get tonsils the size of golf balls. being a moderately unknown webcomic artist/retail sales monkey/liquor auditor/alcoholic sure is a lot of work.
-Mr. P.
April 5th, 2010;
wow. just... wow... i have neglected this page like a kitten after it grows out of its cute phase. sorry guys. honestly there isn't a ton to report. i am working at lego a lot less and started a new job which i'm trying to explain to people verbally before i can figure out how to add it to the comic. also... i found the original adventure compass and things are getting interesting all over again. i am reading a lot of c.urvy, multiplex and QC lately. you should read it too.
-Mr. P.
February 15th, 2010;
i am getting worse and worse at updating the news. they say no news is good news, i beg to differ. i haven't really been busy enough to justify this lapse in information. i'm broke still and my job is lame. welcome to the club. for those of you interested in the ganzfeld stuff though, i am happy to link you to the site. ta da! i guess you should try it. whatever.
-Mr. P.
January 26th, 2010;
woo, i really need to pay more mind to my news. not that anything of note has happened since the 12th or really ever. I am debating hiring outside help to get the site running a bit smoother and perhaps redesigning it a bit, comics will still update on time so no worries there. i am still flat broke, working my ass off and have no prospects of a real job. go go gadget economy. i'm being bitter.
-Mr. P.
January 12th, 2010;
happy belated new year to all of you out there! and more importantly happy birthday to kenny, without whom, most of this comic wouldn't be possible. a lot has transpired since i last posted and suffice it to say that you didn't miss much, but after some bob and timmy's and a long saga of serious... its good to have the crew back at their old game of adventure. on a technical note, i beleive i fixed the site to run chrome properly, and i am looking around for the IE fix, then maybe just maybe i will implement it. in the meantime i will sit here in my tower and sip coffee from my Stetson University Class of '06 mug that is most likely my roommates. cheer up people, winter is almost over... kind of...
-Mr. P.
December 31st, 2009;
and on this day, the last day of the year, some measure of stability returns to my little world. it feels right. i am eager to move into my second year of comic'ing and as a new years resolution i have decided to fix my site and actually buy some advertising. i also resolve another full year of updates and surprises for my fans, who are as always... supportive. i am still home in CT, but will return to the chicago area in early january. until then, eat, drink and be merry this happy new year from all of us @ mlwcomics.com
-Mr. P.
December 17th, 2009;
so here we are... exactly one year since the day my senior thesis and incarceration in art school ended and this comic began to take form. thanks to all those who have supported me this far, whether they be advertisers paying pennies or friends posting links on facebook or stumbling it. as per usual a special thanks goes to kenny for having my back on a regular basis, for no payment whatsoever. as art imitates life, so to does comic. i will be headed home in earnest for the first time in about a year, there are loose ends to be tied, demons to face, weddings to attend and open bars to drink. 'homecoming' today's issue will begin a five or so part series which, i promise, wont get too existential but hopefuly where we can learn a bit more about the characters in the absence of our beloved human catalyst 'mr. p.' on a technical note i have been noticing problems in google chrome and am working on getting those fixed sooner rather than later. if you're still using IE, i don't care. happy holidays.
-Mr. P.
December 7th, 2009;
so i have been on antibiotics for about a week now and i'm still not pleased... as much as i hate sites like webMD it was webMD which diagnosed my current ailment, even though i got a human beings second opinion, and it never ceased to amaze me how often lymphoma pops up on my list. it's a conspiracy... it always is with me... for those of you who are fans in new england area, i'll be home in northeast CT sometime in the next weeks, we'll see if i can get into some comic shenanigans there...
-Mr. P.
December 3rd, 2009;
oh, i am so bad at updating the news,i and currently undergoing treatment for an awesome staph infection courtesy or snot nosed punks. i spent a ton of time thinking about growing up recently as i have proven my own inability to keep myself physically healthy. growing up sucks, but it could be worse. oh life otherwise is busy, but in the meantime in going to sit in a pot of oatmeal and take my 4 pills a day. enjoy a perspective on getting old.
-Mr. P.
November 24th, 2009;
sorry for the lack of updates in the news folks. working retail during holiday season is a wonderful way to consume a life. so considering i have little to no free time it seemed only logical to start the fourth episode of walking hawking & robo-tyson. i feel really great about this particular episode, even though most of my readers tell me how little they get/like them. i was really hoping that the neils-bohr model of the atom would be more obvious in the mothership design but i will take it as it is. i feel the need again to plug robotsneednot.com, but also to suggest that you start reading my new favorite chicago webcomic multiplex. tune in thursday for the thrilling conclusion.
-Mr. P.
November 11th, 2009;
oh what a day... hey! look, 'the least i could do' (which i totally read) is advertising on my site!! super cool! still i want to give a shout out to mason and friends over @ robotsneednot.com for all they have done for me so far. also, my father was in town and he, and his co worker got me really loaded and it was fun. they left me to go to a strip joint, so they say, but my guess is the 'hair club for men' closes long before they will get there and i'm sure they're just trying to prove that they've still got it. god i love them.
-Mr. P.
November 3rd, 2009;
the webcomics meetup over at third coast comics with featured artists john campbell, spike, and lucy knisley was wonderful. we all had a pretty rad time and i urge you guys to check them out. lcuy and spike stole my heart as i have quoted both at least twice in the last four days. special thanks to spike for her gallons of insight into the world of webcomics, the perils that await me, and all things in between. i think anyone can agree that it will take time for me to get to where they are, but i'm in no rush and i think other artists are starting to take me a bit more seriously. also i hope everyone had a safe halloween and such and you all should check out my friend mason and his crayon based counterparts over @ robotsneednot.com he's pretty awesome and pretty resourceful.
-Mr. P.
October 22nd, 2009;
Wow... what a week it is folks. for those of you readers who don't know me personally, it should be known that i am prone to obsessive behavior. 'the get up kids' a band from kansas is one of those things that i obsess over. when they broke up four and a half years ago, i made a promise to nobody that i would wear get up kids tshirts everyday until i saw them on tour again... that day was, yesterday. and I see them for show #2 this evening, as if to add fuel to this alcoholic fire of mine, i have scored 'say anything' tickets for friday night as well over at the vic theatre. such a random series of events that my hearing may never recover from. i got to hang out with some of the get up kid the other night and it was as close to a religious experience as i am likely to have.
that being said, it is hard to ignore the growing amount of hipsters in my generation and how their apathy makes them immune to my usual barrage of hatred, i figured maybe robert smith and tim burton could handle this one. also, in comic news next friday is the webcomics meetup over at third coast comics @5pm. i will be there at some point to support the featured artists john campbell, spike, and lucy knisley so if you're free come out and see for yourself.
-Mr. P.
October 5th, 2009;
i wish i had something exciting to report.
-Mr. P.
October 1st, 2009;
oh god, i dont want to pay rent today. kenny told me he will be out of town for a bit, at what he described as a truly horrific family reunion... i wish him luck. i also have to legally remind you that the "four horseman" is not to be taken lightly, but for those of you that missed the rollover the ingredients are as follows:
the four horseman (of the apocalypse):
1 part jose cuervo
1 part jim beam
1 part jack daniels
1 part johnny walker
shake it up, pour it in a shot glass, wake up next tuesday.
be safe kids.
-Mr. P.
September 28th, 2009;
super thanks to mike for giving me a new server and a brand new update system allowing me to do the voodoo that i do so well. also i went to the chicago comic meetup the other day over @ third coast comics. i was there tracking the elusive likes of the chicago webcomic artists, and had a solid lead to Gordon McAlpin who writes my new favorite webcomic multiplex. although i didn't get a chance to meet him i made a few new friends and had a wonderful time. everyone there was super enthusiastic about comics and it was refreshing. i recommend checking it out yourself if you can, i'll be a regular at the meetups from now on. update on tuesday as usual.
-Mr. P.
September 22nd, 2009;
see what happens, i move the news off the front page, and i forget to update it. let's start with the fact that fall television is in full effect and i adore it all. HBO's new series 'bored to death' is among my favorites as 'heroes' and 'house' left me wanting as usual and 'how i met your mother' is winding down its lifespan as the mother inevitably grows closer. 'fringe' is wonderful as well as 'always sunny in philadelphia.' i must take this time acknowledge my friend mason johnson for his site robotsneednot.com as it has caught me off guard a few times and i adore it. tune in thursday for more self-deprecation.
-Mr. P.
September 10th, 2009;
and another exciting adventure of walking hawking and robo-tyson comes to a close. they always feel truncated, it seems i have to cut a good portion of action and wit in order to format it properly. c'est la vie i suppose, one day i will do a full graphic novel for them. i'm glad to know mr. tyson (in our universe) is now aware of his comic counterpart and has no intention to sue... yet. back to the ol' blade runner tuesday, i had something to link here, but i can't remember for the life of me.
-Mr. P.
September 1st, 2009;
so, we can only pray i don't get sued one of these days. for the record, although they do not employ any real science, they are entertaining and good natured. there was something important i was going to say here, but now i forget.
-Mr. P.
August 25th, 2009;
so for starters, i know our facebook friends probably saw the link, but we got our first real namedrop over @ jared's cube here. he makes me look calm. i love it. i'm having a bit of an existential crisis, and i'm re-reading 'death by black hole' which can really only mean one thing. new walking hawking and robo-tyson forthcoming.
-Mr. P.
August 17th, 2009;
i actually did research for today's comic thanks to a gracious gift to my roommate from a guy named tim. my reading was hilarious, anyone interested in a replay of my reading, so you can laugh too, let me know over @ contact. also, you may notice there have been some changes to the site again. thanks to some prodding by friends and such, the comic is now viewable on the home page and the news has been kicked to a spare page. you will get used to it. while you no longer have to scroll through the adventures, some issues may force you to do that, because i refuse to be confined to three frames all the time. now that this is settled maybe i can work on those shirts and crap everyone wants.
previously mentioned 'friends' can be checked out and cuddled here. i believe i owe you a case of grape soda as a consulting fee.
-Mr. P.
August 6th, 2009;
100 issues. who thought i'd have that much follow through. i am very thankful to the readers and the people who supported the comic this far. my goal for next year is to be at wizard world and connecti-con for next year. i mean, i know i can get a booth, but to actually have some stuff to sell and promote. i am thrilled this mini-series came through but i think i'll be glad to get back to the good ol' stuff. i'm sure you'll be glad as well.
-Mr. P.
July 28th, 2009;
well on my way to number 100 and there are some changes forthcoming. the first 38 comics, scanned from old time doodles, were uploaded to fill in the space of the comic and give people background. however, as the comics have departed greatly from the originals, the idea of keeping them around seems pointless now that i have a new archive to work with. therefore as part of the 100th issue run, i will be pulling down issues 1-38 and archiving them. maybe to be made available sometime int he future, who knows. enjoy them while they're around and look foward to the new issues which just keep coming.
-Mr. P.
July 20th, 2009;
some said it couldn't be done, but thanks to brandon at the mac store genius bar, the day is saved and the comic is on time. although, i had to upgrade to leopard and all of my exotic videos have been lost to a hard drive in the sky, the important things move on. also, did you notice that parallel dimension heroes are now on the same team? yeah. its happening, although i really should get moving on pt 4 and 5. things are going to get crazy again soon. cheers.
-Mr. P.
July 9th, 2009;
today's issue, #93, marks the beginning of a seven part adventure leading up to the 100th issue of my little world. i'm stunned its gone on so long and thanks to all those fans that keep sending me a 'rock on' or ' you're insane' email/facebook/tweet thing. i do it for you guys... ok, no, i do it for me, but i'm glad people dig it. i cant spoil too much as to the plot. but i think no matter what you like about my comic, there will be something for you. except for my blind fan(s) i dont do this in braille. rock on.
-Mr. P.
July 9th, 2009;
today's update stemmed from a conversation i had at work while still groggy this a.m. the get up kids announced the tour dates. presale starts soon here go see them. kevin devine will be there and life and times... i cant wait, but i have to until october. get on it.
-Mr. P.
July 2nd, 2009;
so, it's been four years today since the get up kids broke up and things changed for me. four years since i made a promise to wear a get up kids shirt everyday until i saw them on tour again. and as of july 4th they will be announcing tour dates for the usa. i've almost made it. things are decent here, we are enjoying the company of many visitors here at casa de p. work is interesting as always and so is my neighborhood. overall, neutral.
-Mr. P.
June 23rd, 2009;
while i know im re-using a joke from earlier, i feel like it's still worth it. boystown is a great flippin' neighborhood, but its culture takes some getting used to. the original tim will be in town later this weekend. hope hes not still mad about javier. other than that, things are starting to settle in the new digs and i feel like i can start focusing on my comic... more. i'm a little bummed out about the sudden quieting of fan response. y'all are still out there right? what do you want to see more of? bob and timmy? walking hawking & robo- tyson? something totally new? tell me.
-Mr. P.
June 17th 2009;
well... kinda sick today, might be a mix of being up all night and dehydrated and over caffeinated all day. i'll be at cabaret vagabond's event on friday. feel free to show up and look for me. you say saucy puppet show and burlesque and who am i to deny the adventure. i'm going back to dayquil and reruns of always sunny in philly.
-Mr. P.
June 11th 2009;
woo! on time update! so i really was walking downtown and saw a fire on tuesday. it was weird. it was out of my way but i simply had to go see it up close. i had never seen a burning building in a real city, just on the tv. it was as panicked as tv either people pretty much ignored it, and the fireman wouldn't let me rush inside to save a puppy. in fact, they just kind of stood there and watched. some of them were smoking and flicking butts into the trash cans... which seems... counter-productive. there was no barricade, no perimeter. just smoke, and smiles. odd. i think secretly, we all just love to watch flames flicker. it's some weird caveman throwback, like maybe our ancestors did the same thing millions of years ago... or maybe, we all just enjoy the tv a lot.
-Mr. P.
June 9th 2009;
another late-ish update. later if you're an east coast reader i suppose. i've been getting existential all over the place lately, hilarity will resume thursday most likely. i have a ton of errands to run today as well as work for a client and cleaning my apartment... sounds like a wicked fun day off right? i recently (yesterday) bought maritime's album 'we the vehicle' never making the obvious connection that the bass player is legendary eric axelsson (of the dismemberment plan) and of course other guys who are good too... aaaanyway. check out the site and listen to the music.
-Mr. P.
June 2nd 2009;
ha ha! update late but still doable. the cafe near my new place has a free hotspot, victory is mine. gotta keep the update short today but the new apartment is amazing and despite my roommates inability to carry anything heavy, due to being a wuss, we got it all in and then some. also, i had the privilege of sleeping in a real bed for the first time in about six months. update thursday as per usual.
-Mr. P.
May 28th 2009;
so i went to the reading of joey comeau's new book 'overqualified.' fucking magnificent. as an added bonus i got to meet pictures for sad children's john campbell the the same event. i guess they were hanging out all day in the city seeing sites. it was nice to shake hands with people who shaped this endeavor. they were nice. they were caring and seemingly not annoyed that i wanted to be like them. buy joey's book. it's magical.
-Mr. P.
May 25th 2009;
ok, so i'm hunkering down to pull updates around while i move. yes i'm moving into a heavily gay neighborhood known as 'boystown' as of the first... i actually get cat called a lot. flattering but not productive. either way, it is going to be tough if i don't have internet access for a few days whatever i will figure it out. also, i'm thinking about a graphic novel...based on my little world? crash over to the contact page and let me know what you think. or facebook. word.
-Mr. P.
May 17th 2009;
wow, six months... how time flies when you work a mediocre job in a large city. where your existence in only acknowledged by the turnstyle as it reads your card and thanks you. i'm not that bitter yet, but i can see how people hit late forties and all that they have to show from it are bills and kids. that being said thanks a ton to everyone who has supported this comic so far, from the fans to the facebook pals, to people like kenny whose un-paid support and time is crucial to keeping things working. as promised here are some flyers from before the site launch. if you weren't at UHart you may not have seen them, and if you were... well... you probably still didn't. print em out and put em up! flyer one and flyer two .
-Mr. P.
May 15th 2009;
well, it seems a bit late for the thursday update, but heres a friday news bulletin for you. i am working on some flyers that i will make available for download, from the original site launch they will be up on the 17th as it will ring in 6 months of MLWCOMICS. if you want 'wink' you should print out the flyers and leave them places. a cafeteria, a bar bathroom etc. i have to go to work in the meantime. update on the 17th.
-Mr. P.
